Shocking Majlis Perbandaran Sepang letter

Today I am shocked to receive a letter (unsealed and no stamp) in my mailbox from Majlis Perbandaran Sepang. I wonder why MPS dropped an unsealed letter into my mailbox?

The letter heading: Notis Pindaan Senarai Nilaian (Seksyen 144). It says my property now assessed on nilai tahunan as RM4,920 and from July 2012 onwards I have to pay cukai tahunan of RM361.62!!

My cukai pintu previously was RM53.20 a year with an assessment of nilai taksiran of RM1,330. That is an increase of 6x what I have to pay now! It said that because I have done renovation to my house, so the nilai hartanah had increased. My God, I only extend the back yard and I do not even extend the upper floor. It is an intermediate unit and suddenly my property become Bungalow!!

What a shocking surprise and I wonder you all got the same letter because most of us do extend the back yard. Please comment if you do receive the same letter. I am going to call MPS tommorow to find out what the hell they are trying to do?

    1. Most of us got the letter but we will protest first, maybe we go in a group to show our solidarity that they cannot simply impose charges as they like.

  5. I think the committee can certainly help to gather our signature and deliver together an appeal letter to the Majlis before 19/5/2012. that was the same thing other taman did, or else the Malis will think that 'WE DON'T MIND!'.

  6. Forget about it la, the committees only interested about the guardhouse and collect money.

  8. The cukai pintu cannot be lower than RM200. It was low before because garbage is collected by Plenitude contractors previously. I am staying in Phase 3B and the cukai pintu is RM276. Phase 8A has higher selling price and therefore the nilai tahunan is increased. However, something that frustrates me is that my shop in Phase 9B also got the same letter, increasing my cukai pintu from RM 380 to RM 780!

    1. So what you are saying is that the charges is reasonable?

    2. Yes. Imagine this, you pay only RM361 (less than RM1 a day) for garbage collection, grass cutting, landscaping, street lights, removal of illegal posters, complaint support, removal of illegal dumping ( i have complained a few times to MpSP and they are really efficient in removing illegal dumpings), clearing of clogged drains, maintaining your playground etc. If we all pay only RM50 a year and expect all the above, we will be living in a deprived taman...Someone has to pay for all these and no free lunch
You are already paying RM50 per month just for security fee, RM20 for grass cutting for your small piece of garden, and you expect only to pay RM50 for all the services rendered above? Think yourself, do you want a better place, better service or deprived taman.. FYI, DBKL's cukai pintu starts from 4 figure a year for landed properties..

    3. I agree with you totally. Some people stay in a nice place expect to get "free lunch" . Either these kind of people are uneducated or something else, they are not fit to stay here. Should stay back in those flats or squatters.

  9. Has committee did anything about it? How about Kong? Or they decided to stay silent because for them is a small money and only interested in guardhouse?

    1. Hmmm...I wonder why the committee becomes a victim of this situation. I personally feel the committee has done wonderful job so far.

Remember, they are not being paid any additional money for their social service. Why do we need to always depend on Kong or committee for this kind of matter? Are we paying them any money to do this?

If we need the assistance of the committee or if we have any concerns or issues to be highlighted, it should be done in a professional manner rather than talking like this.

Anyway, I am very much aware that a sample of 'surat bantahan' has been distributed by the committee - again, this is a concern shown by them and no one forced the committee or Kong to issue a sample letter. If anyone would like to have a copy of it, please contact the respective zone leaders. They will be more than happy to assist.

Remember one thing, It is always easier to condemn people or fault finding. At least appreciate those who are willing to assist the community.

Thanks, no hard feelings please :-)

    1. Since you are very concern about the welfare of the residents here and also knowledgeable, I suggest you lead this protest to MPS to show your sincerity towards the residents here. I will be the 1st one to say thank you.

    2. Anonymous, please verify your facts before you say anything. You could be sued for slandering. All the committee here work very hard to bring up this place without a single SEN, but if keep on saying this again, I will first make a police report against you for slandering and later will follow up with a legal letter. If you are staying here, be more responsible, Join the committee and check for yourself the facts, please.

  11. There are quote a lot of anonymous peoples here but for those who are not residents please do not create havoc here. I had called the MPS about the increment and according to them it is quite reasonable. However, you can write to them to appeal for reduction and most of the time they will give reduction. But if you keep quiet, they will charge as per bill.

Give a break to the RA as they had done quite a lot for the residents here and most recently collecting signature petition to build the traffic light outside the junction. You all should be proud to have a very presentable guardhouse and most residents are supporting it. So for those who want to appeal please do so but off-course I really hope if the Chairman has some time to send just one letter representing the TPP8a that will be even more effective and most residents I believe will really appreciate it. But if not, at least use the letter that send out by the zone leader and change the name and address and post it, so simple!

  12. Community service is important to me because I believe that people have a responsibility to provide support for one another.

If you can assist, please proceed to do it. If not, please do not create problem.

Anyway, as I said, it is always difficult to do the work and easy to condemn people.

If we are very free, let us do something useful.

  13. anonymous, basically i don't see any need for me to reply to your comment. but since you simply accuse people base on your own perspective, i have to make some clarification here. please check your facts before making all these non-senses. do you know what was being implemented and what is in the process in this community? i guess you don't. because you only know how to make baseless comment behind your screen and do nothing. i am not saying the committee is an angel, but at least they have contributed their priceless time and effort to make this community a better place to leave. of course there are still many rooms for improvement, if you have good idea, please step forward rather than accusing tak tentu hala. your suggestion to collect everyone's signature so that we can submit a collective objection letter to majlis is very good. may i know which zone you would like to handle so that we can proceed to have all signature asap. i wish this can be done before next tuesday.
another issue is about mr. kong's silentness, as i know, he has initiated many things which are good for the community, he even spends his working hour to do something related to tpp8a. but he has no time to do empty talk in this blog. if this is not called dedication, i think he should consider to stay back in front of his screen and comment as anonymous like you did. as a matured educated adult, i would suggest you to write in to the committee if you have anything doubtful. stop making assumption.

Been dive in this blog and act quiet for some times. I would like to say that this committee has done a good job and work aggressively compare to the past that I experience in others Condo/ Taman. Ricky had said something right and these people owe us noting but doing a volunteer job for every one of us. I seen people shouting here saying that here got problem there got problem no committee take action. Please la.. did you take an initiative to share this problem to the committee and advice something or not? All these volunteers also have their work to do (cari makan), family to take care, and privacy time. I personally committed 5.5days work/week and not much time spare for my family and others. I can't imagine how the committee members spare their valuable time for all these collection la, discussion, signature, etc.
What I and my neighbour have seen is the effort and we are salute them. Thanks.
